Digitals with remote

I know this subject has been done to death recently but I've re-read the threads and article to no avail.

I need a new camera, I'm going digital but I want an infra-red remote for fish pics. All my pics up to now have been taken on manual focus with the self-timer. However in most of the swims I fish I take my life in my hands dashing from camera to fish in semi-darkness on steep and slippy banks. A good remote would be a real boon. Question is can I get one without spending megabucks? My limit is around ?350.

All advice gratefully received.

I use one of the canon eos type bulb releases with a panasonic dmclc5(same as a leica digilux1, but ?200 cheaper. really!). no reason it wont work with other cameras so long as theyve got a tripod adapter thread. prefer bulb release as you can hold the fish properly.

Cakey, do you have something in mind before I start searching?
