anyone know ways of coaxing the carp and pixe out of this river (around about the town of pontivy) because we have been told that a double figure carp has been caught just down from where we are staying and i have seen large pike taking fish beneath the weir

liam, I have fished lots of rivers in France but never the River Blavet. I have always found them difficult as I always fish in the summer on holiday and they are always low and clear. You can go two ways you can either pre-bait your swim with boilies and such over a long period and get the fish confident. Or as I tend to do, fish for other species i.e. Bream and Barbel with small baits such as corn and small cubes of meat. If you get a carp it's a bonus. If you go after the Pike, stick to early morning or late evening. Remember live baits are band but it never stops the French.
