I know that part quite well Paul and its true to say that it isn't the best bit of the Avon by a long chalk. If you go into Stratford and fish opposite the theatre I reckon you will have a decent days fishing. Its true to say that it fishes better in the autumn but there are quite a few fish resident there. Waggler or pole, either should produce and the humble maggot or caster is probably the bait to use (there is a tackle shop in the town). If you ask at the shop they will tell you the best parts to fish and they used to sell day tickets for most stretches. The Seven meadows stretch on the peg running down to the weir is a cracker of a peg and theres a few barbel there too as well as chub, need to get there early mind
