At least you're on the river this time, I might even get up and tune in from time to time;)

PS Best of luck with the resident snotties.

Chub, bream or barbel will be the target fish Paul. But if they don't show it could end up a battle of the bits.

A chilly start here, the river is flowing fairly fast so I have set up my pole and a 3gr Cralusso flat float. Also a stick float rod. It's about 5ft deep at 11m.
Starting in 5 mins, I will pot in hemp and micro pellets on my pole line and feed casters with double caster on the size 18 Kamasan b511 hook.
Not a perfect draw for me but hey ho.
See you in an hour or so....

Just had my first bite on the stick float, a perch of about 4oz.

---------- Post added at 13:16 ---------- Previous post was at 11:33 ----------

Just heard one angler has had 7 chub all over 4lb, and one of around 7lb.
Another has had his pole snapped by a big fish, probably a carp or big barbel.
I am catching perch but no big ones yet... 31/4 hours to go...

The sun has come out now and so have the gardeners on the other bank.
I feel like packing up. I was fishing pole across to a garden and a bloke came and stood right over my float and said "you should come and fish this side"
I have about 2lb of perch and gudgeon in the net, half an hour to go I need a miracle....

I'd have fished a running float rig with loads of caster and had the chub going mad........;)

I did Paul, I fished a stick for half the match but to no avail....

---------- Post added at 18:23 ---------- Previous post was at 17:24 ----------

The winner today had 16 chub( biggest 6lb 15oz) and a barbel. All on the pole which the barbel broke in three sections..He was fishing just above a tree which has fallen across the river..
His total weight was 62lb.
His father had a barbel of 14lb 1oz which also broke his pole but he landed it safely...
Such is the nature of this stretch of the Colne, that to reach the better fish the pole is the only option, you simply couldn't cast a line into the overhanging branches etc.
I came 2nd in my section with 2lb 9oz of perch and gudgeon...

I've never fished the Colne, but i know of its chub and other fish and wouldn't mind fishing it........you did well considering the circumstances.

You don't have to Simon, you just ship your bait and rod and line end tackle out with the pole to these areas - not a pole lover but they have their uses:D
