Im a big fan of my old Diaflex match rod and always thought it was Silstar`s top of the line rod.However a friend says he had a rod in the mid 90s called "The Edge"(I never heard of it)which was far superior,Im a big fan of old match rods,has anyone a pic of such a rod?

Hi mate,I bought 2 Silstar "The Edge" pike rods in the 90's,and being a bit of a tight a**e still use them today.Good rods back then,nothing to do with match fishing but proves your friend right.

I still own an Edge 13mtr pole, it was considered the dogs wotsits when I bought it around 1999. I only use my pole during the close season so I don't use it that much, hence the reason why I have had it all these years and still using it.
However, I cannot remember the Edge rod but I am sure Silstar did one.

Here you go(hopefully),two Silstar Series 360 Edge Specimen rods 3lb test curve.It says Diaflex Wrap Technology,so that could mean they are the same as your match rod.

No problem,I enjoyed sorting the old rods out and attempting to photograph them.The purple collars are a bit tarty for me.Turns out I have 5 Silstar rods so they couldn't be that expensive,only the 2 "Edge" rods.2x2lb carp rods used now for barbel and one 1.1/4lb specialist rod.

So have one of the rods you speak off. I have used it every weekend for around 20 years.
I have just brought a normark 2000 microlite while I get a new Handel and a eye on the silstar.
I recon I have landed over 1000 bream and 10000 roach on this little rod.
I had a Dia flex but sold it and brought the edge. Totally different action my dia flex was a spliced tip the edge is not but the edge is a softer action.
