Why do match lads use two keep net's of different designs

Can't say for sure but I think one's for small "silver fish" whilst the other is for the larger carp and may well have a different mesh to protect the fins.

Some fisheries insist on one keepnet for carp and another for silvers. Some manufacturers produce carp or silvers specific nets. Quite a few folks still use two nets even when the fishery doesn't insist on it. Probably no bad thing at all when keepnets are, or have to be, used.
