Landing net

So tomorrow I’m excited to be buy my new feeder rod and reel (once I’ve made my mind up which one buy)

I’m going to buy a new landing net. One that caught my eye was the Dinesmore shake & Dry. Anyone using these?

Dinesmore tackle is well made and good value ! I have one of their carp nets which is excellent! Their arrow point bank sticks come in a multitude of lengths and are my favourites! You cannot go wrong with one of their nets and you need more than one !

Mikench, thanks I’ll definitely be buying one tomorrow. Will their 26” big enough for tench and bream? Also I take it their thread is universal for most telescopic handles?

Most if not all landing nets & handles/bank sticks have a 3/8 BSF thread

Get a take apart landing net handle, they are lighter and you don't have to use them at full length,
some have two sections that are threaded. and as Mike said, get 2 or 3 nets, and take 2 with you in case you damage one of them.26" will handle tench and bream and any bonus low double carp you may encounter.

Saluki, you said you are looking to spend around £60 on a rod,
In this weeks angling times a review is done on a couple of Drennan twin tip rods,
2 models, the write up seems pretty good, and you should be able to pick one up for around £80.
what you are getting for that price is a rod with 2 tops, one float and one feeder,

I don't suppose you could recommend a make/model?

Daiwa or Preston Innovations, I have the 3 metre Daiwa TDLNP303 model, these and the PI ones only have
single end threaded, Daiwa do a double section threaded at around £100.
I am not sure if tri cast do one with the option of double thread sections.
The best thing with a Daiwa handle is if you break a section ( like I did ) you can phone Daiwa
direct and they will send a section out to you,this also applies to pole sections.PI only go through dealers, wont sell to the public.

Daiwa also do a 4 metre TDLNP403, I tried this alongside the 4 metre Tourny handle at a show,
and I couldn't see a £50 difference in price, one of the Irish national squad who was there said
the TDLNP 403 was a brilliant handle, and the graphics match my pole mg:

Dave, Middy do a couple of handles with 2 sections that are threaded, one is the 3 metre white knuckle handle,
the other is the 3.8 metre carp baggin' machine handle. Both around £25. I cant say what they are like never having used one, I can recommend the Daiwa and the PI handles having got one and used the other.

The 26" will be big enough for most fish! Like Mark has said you need at least 2 nets of different sizes preferably three! I have a maver 2m telescopic, à Drennan 3m twistlock specialist And a Daiwa tournament 3.95 which is heavy but you can take apart and use at different lengths! In truth the Drennan is the one I always use!

Never seen the need to spend a lot of money on a landing net handle.
My pike/carp handle cost £10 form Go Outdoors my smaller fish net £14 from a local tackle dealer. I was looking at the Drennan handles and the dealer said why buy one of those when a £14 net does the same job. It‘s done the job for the past 4 years and is still going strong.

I really don't know Mark! I bought a Tricast John Allerton rod of a guy and he gave it to me!! It is well made but heavy! On the bag it says Daiwa Tournament take apart net handle !

It says six in one on the handle"

John ???? mg: The tourney handles I have seen have silver handles and Daiwa Tournament on them,
they are fairly light and strong. two of the sections will be threaded to use at 2 different lengths. at that length it would be carbon and 4 section take apart.

Mark mine is blue and made of carbon. It is in three sections two of which are threaded!

has it got tournament on it ? it seems as if older model, they are good handles.
