  1. Default Hi everyone - a little late introducing myself

I live and fish in NY, USA.
Going on 70, I've fished most of my life starting with bluegills and catching them using a bobber and earthworms. (can still remember my first fish as a child...)
When stationed in Texas (Air Force) back in the 70's, I didn't have a clue about lures vs live bait not realized lures had been around for decades. Other than catfish and sunfish, I didn't know what different species were - including carp, but one time I did catch a 3 lb gar on a really cold day. The following spring I did catch a large number of carp schooled near shore on live worms.

Fishing shows on TV were becoming more frequent, the content which intrigued me including the BS meant to sell tackle. Until my relocation back to NY, I didn't have a clue about using lures until a tackle shop owner gave me a yellow Mr Twister grub rigged on a yellow pearl ball head jig. Caught smallmouth bass on it and bought a bunch more!

The rest is about making, modifying and testing lures. You never know what fish will bite until you've tried it.

    Hello and Welcome to FishingMagic

Scholars have long known that fishing eventually turns men into philosophers.

Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to buy decent tackle on a philosopher's salary. ~
