Time fished:...19:00hrs to 21:00hrs
Weather conditions:..Cloudy with sunny intervals.
Water conditions:...About 6" up on NSL and carrying some colour.

Water Temperature:...Not taken
Bait:...March Brown (winged), Snipe & Purple, Black Pennell
Method:...Wet Fly
Results:...5 small brownies
Brief description of the session & remarks:...Back to river Fly-fishing after a very long lay off, this was my first time on the Wenning for 25 years and the very first time on this stretch. All the fish were picked up at the tail end of fast runs. Two of the brownies were around 10" and the other three about 6". All the flies took fish. The river is hard to fish because of the trees on both banks and most of the time I was in the river, must get a wading stick!! The two hours fishing flew by and I soon found my-self at the end of the beat at dusk and with no wading stick I wasn?t confident I could ford a strange part of the rive in the dark, so I took the long way back through the woods, crossing the river via the road bridge. Nice evening on the river and good to be back fly fishing on my local rivers.

Bait:...Snipe & Purple, Black Pennell, Greenwell's Glory, March Brown and a great big white nynph. Not got a clue whats it was called?

Brief description of the session & remarks:...Expected to do better, had a few plucks but nothing realy solid. Wading was quite exciting with the river pulling through, loads of big boulders and holes to step into. Quite enjoying my fly fishing after twenty years, bit like riding a bike you don't forget!

Time fished:...17:00hrs to 21:00hrs
Weather conditions:..Sunny intervals with rain & hail.
Water conditions:...About 6" up on NSL and slightly coloured.

Water Temperature:...Not taken
Bait:...Snipe & Purple, Black Pennell, and March Brown.
Method:...Wet Fly - point & one dropper
Results:...2 small raibows about 10"
Brief description of the session & remarks:...After an hour thrashing the river one or two trout start to show and eventually after changing the point fly to a 14's Black Pennell the first rainbow was banked. I'd several fish after this but bounced them all, one a good 12" right at the net. Every time I changed the hook size up, nothing was interested; every time I changed down I was hitting fish with a final little rainbow just before dusk. This turned out to be a very interesting session in very changeable weather conditions.

Water Temperature:...Not taken
Bait:...Connemara Black, Black Pennell, Snipe & Purple and Partridge & Orange
Method:...Wet Fly - point and one dropper
Results:...3 small brownies 6" or there about
Brief description of the session & remarks:...Never fished this part of the river before, very pleasant and much easier to fish than the upper reaches, easy wading. Bit difficult casting in the very cold breeze, plenty of fish topping but mainly small stuff, even saw a couple of May fly's. As usual I got bounced by a couple of fish but they didn't feel that big. 2 fish came to snipe and purple on the dropper and 1 to partridge and orange on the point. Nice stretch of the river, I'll be back.
