Weather conditions..... blustery / showery
Water conditions.......5 1/2 ft up at start and dropped 2 ft whilst fishing
Water Temperature...... not taken
Bait .................. meat and pellet
Method ............... ledger
Results : 1 barbel at 9lb 12 oz and 2 chub , 1 at 4lb 14oz and the other at 6lb 6oz ( a p.b and my first ever 6 lb chub)
Comments : River was fishable with the extra water in and very little leaves etc being washed down. Still required plenty of lead to hold bottom @ 4-6 oz.
All three fish came in consecutive casts and were the only 3 bites i had during the session.
I was really happy catching the small chub first and avoiding a blank but then to get a near double barbel after not catching one for weeks made my day. Then to finish with a huge chub was unreal.
Sometimes we get downhearted ( and wet and muddy) but then you get days when you feel the hardwork and effort is rewarded - like yesterday.
I love the ribble too !

Time fished............14.30 - 19:00
Weather conditions.....odd showers following a morning of rain, air temp at start 11C but dropping to 8C within the first hour
Water conditions.......around 1 metre up
Water Temperature...... 8C
Bait .................. pellet then bread
Method ............... pellet with bagged pellets on straight lead, bread with mash in feeder

Comments: Levels at 3am were encouraging - up about half a metre but falling but steady rain for about eight hours meant the river was up again and bringing down lots of rubbish. Had just three lightning fast bites. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

Method ............... ledger
Results : 2 barbel at 11lb 10 oz and 10lb 4oz. 1 chub at 4lb 6oz
Comments : Needed 4-5 oz of lead to hold bottom and leaves were a bit of a prob but who cares when you get 2 doubles in a day.
I also got snapped off by an unseen barbel that could have made it an even better day , still i musnt grumble. Another day on the ribble that is going to live long in the memory.

Result : 2 chub both @ 4lb.
Had a wander along the stretch fishing each swim for 15 mins and moving if no bites came.
The 2 bites i hit were at opposite ends of the spectrum, 1 moved the tip barely 1/16 of an inch the other resembled a barbel bite moving the tip 12+ inches as i was pouring a brew.
