Section of Fishery or river stretch: Holmes Chappel
Date:19 August 2003
Day Ticket/Club/Private: Club
Time fished: 4pm til 9pm
Weather conditions: Generally overcast
Water conditions: Very clear
Water Temperature: 63 degrees C (17F)
Bait: Halibuts/Boilies
Method: Running leger
Results: Blankety blank
Brief description of the session and any remarks: Very low and very clear, but I was highly entertained by half a dozen chub which kept swimming virtually to my feet, feeding on small pellets, and then even picking up my bait swimming off with it, bending the tip round, yet somehow remaining unhooked!

Water Temperature:
Bait:Curry flavoured Meat, Halibut pellets
Method:Light lead on tip
Results:1 Chub 3lb
Brief description of the session & remarks:
Absolutely nothing till about 4pm (had a kip for two hours about 1.30), then got the chub on pellet, started to get bites on both meat and pellet as light dropped. I think it needs more water and colour to fish better.
Put a carpet of hemp and chopped meat down at start.

Weather conditions:mild,overcast
Water conditions:Couple of foot up, cocolate
Air temperature:
Water Temperature:
Bait:Halibut Pellet
Method:4oz feeder
Results:Blank
Brief description of the session & remarks:
Needed 4ozs tp hold the bottome, but had a lot of problems with debri fouling the line.
Had a couple of bites later on but they wouldnt develop into proper pulls, I think the current was making good presentation too difficult.
If the weather stays mild, it should fish well when this extra water runs off.

Weather conditions:Cold, Brghitish to Dull
Water conditions:About a foot up
Air temperature:
Water Temperature:
Bait:Halibut Pellet
Method:Maggot Filled Feeder
Results:Blank
Brief description of the session & remarks:

Had two bite all day, missed them, conditions looked perfect, maybe too cold for the barbel but I thought that the chub may have fed, Had a go on the stick with maggot but found it too difficult to see the float properly in the peg I was fishing,so I packed it in after the first time the terminal tackle got snagged.

It was so cold in the water, the feeder was taking an age to release the maggots, maybe should have used an open ender or filled it with something smelly.

Section of Fishery or river stretch:
Date:08.01.04
Time fished:8am-2pm
Weather conditions:pissing down, Mild but a bit windy
Water conditions:Lovely until about noon when it started to rise and change to chocolate
Air temperature:
Water Temperature:
Bait:pellet, Curry flavoured meat and cheese
Method:Tip
Results:5 chub about 3-4lb each
Brief description of the session & remarks:
Getting bites on the meat, but nothing I could hit, changed to cheese and had three fish in three consecutive casts, the first taking the cheese on the drop after the next two fish, the river began to rise rapidly and the fishing slowed down just as rapidly. Before the level rose, I thought that I was on for a netful, those chub were going just mental for the cheese, whith only minimal interest for the other baits I tried.

Time fished:10.30am till just after dark
Weather conditions: mild with showers later on
Water conditions:up a couple of foot but steady
Air temperature:
Water Temperature:
Bait:Cheese and pellet
Method: tip with small feeder
Results:1 chub about 3lb, 1 barbel about six pounds
Brief description of the session & remarks: surprisingly slow for bites. Got the chub on cheese and the barbel on pellet, I was getting a few bites later on with the pellet from chub but just couldnt hit them with a hair rig. Got the barbel just after dark and it gave the most savage bite I have had. Judging by the way it fought, I thought it was over double figures, it didnt half go.
Barry, were you the Barry I was speaking to?, forgive me, I dont know your surname.
