Charlie Bettell - Re: Hook Damage

After having had a good debate on the subject of 'One Eyed Pike', who now agrees that we need to look at ways of preventing eye damage occurring - possibly by reducing the number and size of hooks on a lure.

A simple Yes or No is all that's required at this point.

If we get more Yes votes to No votes, I will then try and get the ball rolling and then start a plan of action.

There is certainly potential for hook damage, that cannot be questioned.

Charlie...have a look at this picture I found
here

It was taken from an Irish guides website and is a recent photo. I think it illustrates the problem well. look where the tail treble is.

Yes, if it's causing harm it must be looked into as soon as possible.

Just received my Pikelines and lo and behold there is evidence of large lures hanging from a pike's mouth with the large treble swing around. Just check the radius it could travel!!
Also fish being held whilst the captor is standing up??? What's that all about??
I could go on for ages, but I suppose we have all done something wrong when piking?? I know I have, but I hope I have learned by mine and other peoples mistakes, unfortunately success is sometimes more important that fish care!!
