Here we go again. Who can catch the biggest Perch this autumn/winter?

Rules: Rod/pole/whip only.
Any bait..
Any water in the UK.
Start at 00:01am Monday Sept 1st 2014.
Finish at 12pm Saturday 14th March 2015.

Now in it's 4th year this challenge has thrown up a few lunkers....
2011/12 Clint. 2lb:15oz.
2012/13. Reeds. 4lb:01oz.
2013/14. Chubber Bob. 4lb:11oz.

Photographic evidence would be great but not essential...
If you have a photo and can't upload it ( like me:eek:mg:)
we have ways, so take a pic anyway....

So far nobody has reached the 5lb mark, or the possible 6lb+.
The UK record is I believe 6lb:5?

Good luck....

Nice one PC... I hope to be weighing in more than my usual multi-ounce offerings this time around.

But don't hold your breath :eek:mg: :D

There's some absolute crackers in my local canal, may manage a "three" but a "four" is unlikely. I kept saying last year that I would put my pike rods out and leave a perch deadbait rig out on my spinning rod. May have to stick to my word this time!

This won't last too long, but I might as well kick things off with 2lb 11oz.

Stepp forward please John

I had this the other day at 2lb 15 ozs. I keep trying to break the 3lb barrier. Next time?
Local club lake on the Lincs Wolds. I used a 2inch piece if rudd tail on a float rod/dibber float over depth and cast in fan shape retrieving in slow sink and draw. Had 5 others but smaller and an eel of 2lb 4ozs that thought it was a perch. No wire. No pike in here.

There is a 3lb stripey under the road bridge of that place I PM'd you about a few months ago. ;)

(And, if you are into drop shotting I can't think of a better place to try for some specimen perchies)

Kev's gone quiet, however (as final judge) I can't dispute his 3:12 lunker.
Plenty of time left.
Get a lob on.....

I've been on holiday & fishing a lot lately, so not spent much time on my laptop! Yes I was fishing a big water & drop shotting in 20-25ft of water with mainly 14g pencil weights. There seemed to be 2 defined feeding times when we caught our best fish, 9-11am & 4-6pm. I have noticed this on other waters as well, especially the afternoon feeding period. With the shortening days, I reckon I'll be fishing from 4pm until dusk !

Top tip Kev,
What do you reckon happens when 4pm IS dusk, in oh-so-few weeks time?
Do they go to bed hungry and wake-up with a bigger hunger in the morning? OR 'get some in' before 'beddy-byes'? OR feed over night? OR just go into low-energy mode and feed opportunistically at any time when they can be a**ed?
Cheers and Tight Lines!
