Lure fishing for Perch within striking distance of Portsmouth ?

Id try the Royalty or the Throop for starters, once the weed dies down.
Also heard reports of good fish coming from certain ex mil. enclosed waters very near you
Wouldn't bother about the Itchen 'free', I walked the whole length yest and never saw a single fish caught by anyone.
BUT....I did watch two individuals spinning tiny lures, one a Polish guy who I know to be a fish stealer was dropshotting small plastics, the other a local who didn't know the Sea Trout season had finished (even tho only coarse fishing is permitted).
Have heard of a near 2 from there this summer but, sadly, it will gone by now unless it learnt its lesson.
