Rod for perch

Looking at a new rod for my perch fishing. Recently I've been using a 6ft 2lb swan off for my perch fish which is fine for trip to local lake if I play them gentlely. but I really struggled on the river or less well trimmed swim and tbh the river is my true love as I just couldn't get the tip high enough to clear the weed beds or rushes
Was looking at maybe a scope 10ft or 9ft 1.75tc? So had enough of a backbone to deal with the odd stray Jack that will hit my livebaits.
Ideally as small a pack down as possible

Jack's I guess up to a few pound and and perch mostly 1lb to 2 lbs with hopefully the odd bigger one thrown in.
Use 1 or 2 oz to hold bottum

I've seen this rod which might be worth a look as is lighter then 2lb or 1.75 I've been looking at

I mainly float fish on the middle Severn and occasionally fish the tip with a Drennan light bomb rod , never really fish with more than 3/4 oz lead , I've had perch pushing 4 lb and pike up to 13 lb so I've tested the tackle now and again.

The TB 0.75lb tc rods are superb and an absolute steal. I doubt there's a better perch rod on the market. Might be a little undergunned for pike but ought to cope with jacks ok. The 1.75 Scopes are nice too....quite soft actioned. I have both and personally I'd use the TB rods for perch though the Scopes might be a little bit more versatile across a wider range of species and size of fish. They are a lot more expensive than the DV though !

Yeah I'd rather save the 100 quid for sure the sawn off doesn't feel over powered at all. And I find the scope concept a lot easier for simple hoping.
What the packdown length on the dv ones

yep def the DV - they are covered a few times on this forum and are always championed by the same people whenever this question is brought up cause we have them ! I have two & are my goto rods for Perching. They will deal with any just double you may come accross so long as your line is up to it.
My Acolyte plus, my IM9 classic, my Matchrpo ultralight or my DV's when perching? - always my DV's. They are a two piece and for that price ....

The DVs are probably right up there with the best rods I've ever bought....certainly the best value. I wish they did a deluxe version with better quality fittings...I'd have a pair like a shot. That said I bought the 1.25 tc DV twin tip and though its a decent enough tip rod as an avon its rubbish.

I have thought about getting them refurbished/upgraded with small avon type rings but I fear the cost wouldnt make it viable, I have no idea what cost that would be - any idea's anyone ?. Maybe a job lot for someone ?

Tri-Cast XRS 2K4 Feeder range are for me at least fairly close to perfect Perch rods available on the market today, I use my 9ft mostly with the swing tip, though I do use the swing tip adaptor sans tip for some close in float fishing and wouldn’t hesitate to use a 12ft in the same way for further out had I not already got 2x old Angler’s Workshop custom built 11ft 1.5ish TC Sportex CRX rods which are pretty close to perfect for that role already.

I thought about doing that too but in the end decided that it just wasn't worth it. I'd like to change the tip rings but I've not yet found any that look quite right.

It might cost a bit but the Gary Peet may do a custom version on request.

As for a Perch I used to use the old JW Avon quiver ..1.25tc ..and that did the job ok.

I also have some stepped up/power match rods and they are ideal too.

These rods are fantastic for the money, I am really pleased with mine. read some of the reviews on their site.
They are a soft enough action for small fish, but I have caught carp up to just under 15lb too with no problem.
