I was pike fishing last week and caught three pike, two of which had fin damage on the trailing edge of the dorsal fin. Part of the fin rays were missing and the damaged ends were pink/red in colour.
It's the first time I've caught pike with damaged fins from this river, which I've fished for many years. I remember catching a large pike with damaged fins some years ago in a different river.
I think the damage might have been caused either by some type of disease, or perhaps otters.
Have forum members any idea what causes this fin damage?
