Flood Tides with a Difference

I have been reading an American fishing article?that began with the words, "I was fly fishing in floodwaters that were coming across a road and through two large culverts."
It gone me wondering if anyone in this country has ever taken advantage of a particularly heavy sea flood and managed to catch fish in an area that would normally be a car park or field adjacent to the shoreline, for example.
It sounds very far-fetched, I know, but maybe some of you living in East Anglia or other low-lying areas might have experience of the sea encroaching in such a fashion.
I just have an interest in the surreal... :)
