I read my local December fishing mag issue and the sea report section from about 6 regular anglers did not have one Cod among them, they basically blamed the warm temps and lack of good blows. However January was a lot colder and some good blows but January's issue was basically the same; slightly better but only one or two Cod. I visited a couple of stalls that sell fish straight of the boats today and just one Cod on display. I asked both if any Cod about and they both said it is dire, hardly any cod at all.
To quote one write up in the paper, "With spring getting increasingly close now, many anglers have written off this cod season. Indeed, Wesley Shrubsole (angling journalist for the KM group) told me that this season has to be one of the worse for cod fishing in my forty years of fishing round our shores".
It all belies this supposed cod revival.
