Lure fishing in October

I'm heading down to Brixham at the end october and was thinking of having a go on lures. I was looking at going on the breakwater, would i be wasting my time at that time of year?

The conditions on the Kent coast have been dire for lure fishing most of this summer so far with no signs of improvement any time soon. I’m hopeful that September/October will be a bit better.
