    Re: Deep water tench

Just as a matter of interest, is the power station warm water outflow near Shannon Bridge still operating?
There used to be good tenching by the lillies in the cut there near the bridge.

    Re: Deep water tench

I used to fish a very deep pit at Wrasbury near Heathrow. 30 to 40 years ago which I have heard has been filled in. The water shelved off sharply with no discernible shallow margin. Tench were the...

Weather forecast was rain subsiding at 11 Am which was actually correct so that when I arrived at the pool with moving water running through it.

Re: Spinning on a standard rod?

Yes definitely a wire trace unless its a commie type water that only contain perch and no pike.
I used to steer clear of spinning/lure fishing due to back aches until I bought a purpose built very...

    Re: Popped up bread.

Bread is definitely an underrated carp bait. As Jerry says finding them in winter is critical. Whether or not the bread would stay on long enough is another matter.
I catch carp on an easy water...

    Re: Float making.

I must say as a clumsy, slap dash sort of bloke I just cannot comprehend the skill and care that goes into the floats I have seen pictured.

I am not sure this qualifies for a rig bit but........it attaches Stotz wonderfully so I have included it. They were marketed by Daiwa and I am glad I bought two as I have not seen them since. They...

Re: How did you get on?

Not much to photo recently so this chub and one mirror was welcome. Both from an inlet stream to a club lake. worm on my old Shakey wand.

Re: Using tackle how you like.

That is something I do quite regularly. A pole float fished under a long rod preferably with a centre pin is a great way to tackle deeper water close in. Good for perch tench and carp.

    Using tackle how you like.

Rayners post in the pole or whip thread reminded me of an angler I saw hemp fishing years ago. He was certainly using tackle differently and how he like to.

As we all know bites on hemp can be...

    Re: Your earliest fishing memory

It doesn't quite qualify as angling but in a park in Ilford Essex( now London) at the age of about 3 or 4 I watched entranced as the big boys with nets catch sticklebacks from a stream.
    It was to be...

I have always thought whips without elastic but relying on a very light bendy tip are for catching quickly lots of small fish when bites are easy and speed is the requirement. The supple tip provided...

    Re: Shelf life of bait

Judging by the pong of the thick black silt on a lake bed which the fish root about in, I doubt they find old pellets unpleasant.

S63 John, thanks for the reminder about this 112 system. I did as the video instructed and it reminded me I have already registered. I think you put it on here once before and I had forgot.
