Re: Reels and the cost your prepared to pay.

I have trouble justifying paying over the top for tackle in general. A couple of reels I have had that wore out were Okuma, free spool jobs that began to clunk on the retrieve. Also Carp direct reels...

    Re: Bronze Maggots

They got their name from their eyes having a look of mascara from the coal dust, nothing to do with black casters. Coal dust is a mare to remove from around eyes.

    Re: Maggot riddle

A selection of riddles all have there use, I have a rather large oblong one for doing large amounts of maggot, a maggot tub sized one and a round one that fits my groundbait bowl. Also a riddle that...

I have no doubt that in part your comment above does hold water.
I'll take a different stance in that I never take part in any surveys for the simple reason I refuse to trust any such surveys,...

Re: To pole or not to pole

It's true, at the time there were lots of variations of doing the internal thing. The elastic between two beads was just the way I did it. The technique sounds a lot more tidy than it actually was,...

Re: To pole or not to pole

I enjoy reading your post Kev, my experiences sort of mimic your own.
Like most, the fist pole I had incorporated a crook. A strange looking gadget that held around ten inches elastic, at the time ...

I've not even looked at the survey.
I see it as a waste of my time. The AT keep coming up with surveys but do nothing. May be it's the wrong attitude to take but being realistic the AT are...
  10. Re: Tying spade end hooks and hooklengths,or the inability to.

I've given quite a lot of my reject tackle to the lad next door. I can see me teaching him to finger tie so he can do my hooks, for a small fee.
  11. Re: Tying spade end hooks and hooklengths,or the inability to.

When I was capable of using my fingers I always whipped the line down the shank. If I got a stronger knot I'm not sure, It did take a while for me to get used to the the matchman when my fingers...

Re: Are you tempted I was.

I kept everything I 'd bought up to last year, I thought it had to go whilst I could still manage to shift it.
I chucked twenty nine rods, seat boxes and a mountain of bait tubs, also loads of...

Re: Are you tempted I was.

Over the last couple of years I emptied my tackle room of everything I had not used for years.
I made a conscious decision not to buy anything else apart from terminal tackle. Since mid summer I've...
  14. Re: Tying spade end hooks and hooklengths,or the inability to.

I had a real dislike of spade end hooks years ago and preferred to stick with dubbed straight shank , eyed hooks were only used if I fished a bomb. The simple fact that spades give far superior knot...

Re: Tackle made in the UK

My seat box is all English made, it's a hand built Boss box 8 drawer system. Cost me £415 not cheap at the time, I thought it was the best.
I bought it 1987 and it's still in almost perfect...
