    Re: Bread, types, usage?

I do quite a lot of fishing for carp on the surface, especially in good weather. I tend to use bagels if at all possible, as it is of a much firmer texture. It seems to resist casting and even some...

Re: Assembling a larger net - how?

Thanks All, and especially for the video link. I can’t set it up or down as easily as that yet, but I suppose it’s just a matter of practice. The main pole of the net I’ve just bought seems to flex...

Hi All, I’ve just bought a new Advanta Discovery CX Rover landing net. How are you supposed to assemble the arms carrying the net into the spreader? I don’t want to break it immediately....All of my...

    Re: Whip Rod

I use a 4m telescopic kids whip to give it a try. It was made by Fladen and marketed as a Matt Hayes Adventure pole fishing set. Argos sell it with some rigs ( which have totally the wrong size hooks...

    Re: Best bait for tench

The only other thing I could add is that tench seem to be very hookshy. So smaller hooks than 'usual' work far better, for me at least. I only caught my first tench this time last year, and that was...

    Re: Best bait for tench

On the tench lake at Four Ponds in Devon, I've only ever caught tench with sweetcorn. Anything else pulls in good roach it seems.

Re: How did you get on?

Heh heh.... I think the air temp was around 11degrees C, but I have no idea how warm the water was. Overall depth of the swim was about 5 feet, so I suppose that the water warmed up fairly quickly...

    Re: North Somerset fishing clubs?

Hello, thanks for the suggestions. I shall look into them. If anyone else has any suggested clubs to the west of Taunton, and perhaps in north East Devon, I’d be glad to hear them.

    North Somerset fishing clubs?

Hi All, the missus and I are moving to northwest Somerset for good. I haven’t ever been a fishing club member but I think it would be a good idea, as it should improve my fishing skills. I am...

If there are others on here who like to make floats as well, and live in your area, why not but a 5L tin between a few people? Buy one and split it.

    Re: Carp on banded pellet

I was fishing banded pellet on my old match rod with 8lb mainline and 6lb hook to nylon, but I was constantly getting snapped off, so I changed up. I’d say you should go up in hook and pellet size. ...

That’s the name of the product, otherwise known as “Patum Peperium”, evidently made since 1828. It’s a spread that you have on hot toast, but only a very thin scrape of it because it’s very strong...
