    Re: Distressed fish

I understand it’s also to do with atmospheric pressure. But yes temperature is the biggest factor and surface agitation, which effects gas exchange through the surface layer.
  2. Re: Cheap(ish) polarised sunglasses for kids?

The likes of Fox, ESP etc all seem to do them for £10-15. I have a pair of ESPs that I keep as back up, they aren’t as good as the rather more expensive Oakley’s I have but they’re not rubbish.

    Re: When we fish again

I don’t think they are pushing for special dispensation, just raising the interests of the people they represent. I’m pretty sure golf and the likes are doing just the same and I see no problem with...

    Re: Do fish communicate ?

I can tell you they do communicate , obviously they don’t talk or anything but they have mechanics that allow them to convey basic stuff, virtually all higher life forms do. We could be talking as...

    Re: Strange and unnerving lures

Yeah, a lot of these things will work. Like any lure your only creating vibrations and visual que’s that create a strike, be it territorial or feeding. I don’t have many but have enjoyed using the...

    Re: Barbel on Minnows

I recon you’d struggle to keep your minnow on long enough for Bertie, Jacks and Perch would be on that Minnow very quickly, especially in summer. I’ve had some big pike chase 5g spinners when...

    Re: Drop shotting in summer

Echo as above. The fish are more mobile and will chase in summer, so you can cover more water and find the fish. Dropshot is ideal for targeting a specific feature. In summer one of my favourite...

Re: Spinning on a standard rod?

As you will come to learn and appreciate whilst you can do different things with different rods certain tasks are made better by certain rods. If you took your All Rounder and went to fish the float...

    Re: Drop shotting rods

A bit part of this is working out what you wish to do. If you choose a rod that is rated incorrectly for where you fish and what you wish to I it can be a bit of a menace, for example if I took a...

Re: Drop shotting - am I missing something?

I do enjoy the drop shot, but where I am there are no canals for over an hours drive. So as a method for my local Waters is quite limited. What I have switched to is light spinning, jigging and lure...

Re: Looking for someone to fish with

I pretty much flat out won’t fish a free stretch of river. Sorry but I’ve just had too many bad experiences. Joining a club was the best thing I did.

Well come actual night time darkness they worked, nice and bright. Little more patience and darkness required.

    Drennan isotopes

Ok silly question. Bit embarrassed to ask but how the hell do they work? I brought a set because I keep forgetting the glow sticks and these are apparently a fit and forget item. I’m looking at them...

    Re: Rubber baits question.

I’ve tried hair rigged maggot clips and tbh all that I achieved was squished maggot. Found it impossible to close the ring without smushing at least half of them.

    Re: Bait droppers

    I’ve got two.

A large one about 4/5” across, its too big to use with an Avon rod to be honest, only any use in the margin. This is the same style as pictured above.

    Then I have a more...

    Re: Rubber baits question.

Have you considered hair rigging a fake maggot? The presentation is brilliant and obviously the hair avoids the Chub and little buggers. I use this to avoid the silvers when fishing a local pond for...

    Re: H.Avon Severals Fishery

Yeah weedy is an understatement. I generally will find the clear patches, the fish immediately dive for the weed as soon as hooked. This takes some adjustment and as Mark says, the landing zone is...

    Re: H.Avon Severals Fishery

The PVA bag isn’t huge, like a satsuma sized offering? I haven’t tried just a hookbait in the asumpstion they simply wouldn’t be drawn to it? Is that a misunderstanding on my behalf?

    Re: H.Avon Severals Fishery

Cheers for the tips. I will give that a go. I’ve been using CC Moore’s Pacific Tuna or the Odyssey XXX, relatively confident in that choice.

    H.Avon Severals Fishery

    Hi Guys,
I’m hoping someone will help. Severals is now my local fishery and where I’m targeting the Barbel. Trouble is I don’t think I’m getting it right. This year is my second year on the fishery...
