    Check out Riverfly, Jeff, They offer training courses all over the country and it is very straight forward and only requires a few hours a year from the participants.

    Wow! That much for 189 yards......bit of a gamble.

    Don't know the area, but down here you could have 1890 yards of river, and only about 10 might be worth fishing!

    The only fixed spools I have which cost over a hundred quid are for sea fishing, most cheaper stuff just doesn't stand up to saltwater for long, even if you look after it well.

    Whatever the pros and cons, I reckon they're a joy to use for trotting, there's an inherently pleasurable feel about them that I don't get from using a fixed spool or closed face.
