    If you are new to fishing use maggots, and feed regularly

    if if you see other using bread or sweet corn , pellets ect I'd stick with maggots for the first couple of trips then once you happy try...

    It maybe the hook is making big the hook bait sit different in the water to the freebies

    or as said above they may see the line on the surface, I try to have the last couple inch of line or more...

    I use micro pellets - 2mm or 3 mm - before setting the rod up soak in water for 10 seconds , drain the water and leave - should be right when you start to fish

    use water in a ionizer spray bottle...

    I thing the rod may have broke when the shop blokes were handing it over when I bought it - it was two strange looking brother that kept passing the rod to each other saying "From me to you"

    Float fishing the margins is one of my favourite ways to fish
    seeing the water cloud up as a tench or carp root about adds to the excitement for me

    In all my years of fishing I've never broken a rod until this year

    I had a lovely 10.5 ft carp waggler rod and whilst setting up I managed to wack the tip on a tree and broke off about 2 inch off...
