    Re: Beginner waggling

I fish pellet waggler quite often when it is the right method to use, generally in the warmer months.

I always use a banded pellet on a hair rig and have hooked hundreds upon hundreds of fish. ...

    Re: Drennan Acolyte

I’ve got three, 2 ultras and a carp waggler. All bought used, and no problems.

Mostly fish commercials and catch plenty of carp on them.

    Wonderful rods!

    Re: Soft pellets.

Not really worth the effort in trying to get it right in my opinion.

Paste is an option but as Kev says it’s not a bait for casting. If you simply break them down with boiling water you can make a...

    Re: Sticky pellets.

I do fish the odd venue where groundbait is not allowed. But given the choice will always fish a mix of both, in the proportions above. I got this from an Andy Findlay video and it works a treat. ...

    Re: Sticky pellets.

You got there my friend! Buy cheap shop or fishery pellets and prepare them. ‘Sticky’ or the suchlike is marketing.

The perfect way with micros for me is to mix them in the ration 2:2:1 -...

    Re: Pole top kits questions?

Yes you can, but obviously not very far out!

I very occasionally fish just a top kit but it is dependent on the venue and actual peg.

Generally if fishing a margin I prefer to fish at least 4...

    Re: Next generation legends?

The commercial match fishing scene should be a great leveller, many of the venues are similar, with a few species of fish dominating.

At the highest level the competition is intense and amongst...

    Re: Myth or Reality?

I know many on here prefer natural venues but bear with me please, it is of relevance to the debate.

Over the weekend I watched 2 episodes of the excellent ‘Think Fishing’ with Des Shipp. They...

    Re: Myth or Reality?

One method I enjoy on commercials is fishing the jigger. This is a method for fishing shallow where the float is not fixed but is allowed to slide up and down the line between two stops. I find it...

I was fascinated as a squirrel sat atop a litter bin, pulling out its contents, while a magpie 8286sat on the ground patiently waiting to intercept falling bits it found attractive.

    Re: Loop knot

‘Burn’ the line is quite correct. Friction causes heat causing a burn to the line, which occurs with both knots and sliding shot.

Try sliding a stotz quickly along a foot of dry line, the heat it...

I’d say 10-12 slik should really be labelled 8-10, and that’s a little light for my taste in fishing paste? What hooklengths are you marrying it up with?

    Re: Elastics

    Hi Kev
I’m possibly the worse person to ask as I don’t use ‘traditional’ solid elastic. However I’d say it must be more akin to hollow than solid. I have side pullas on all my kits and wouldn’t...

    4, 2.2 hybrid. 0.17 to 0.20 heavy hooks....
