  1. Re: Tying spade end hooks and hooklengths,or the inability to.

Rather rude & out of character I would say & I went to quite some trouble not to be.

I didn’t realize alternatives opinions were not allowed so I’ll bow out there.

    PS …a quick rummage through...
  2. Re: Tying spade end hooks and hooklengths,or the inability to.

The reality is we both don’t know and are guessing. I think your wrong and I recon if the small size were available with eyes then people would switch over to them as they have for larger hooks as...
  3. Re: Tying spade end hooks and hooklengths,or the inability to.

I suspect its easier to manufacture spade ends than eyes in the very small sizes & gauges of wire so the reason matchmen use spades for small baits is because there are very few eyed hooks available...
  4. Re: Tying spade end hooks and hooklengths,or the inability to.

I recon the advantages of spades are overstated & outside match circles more people use eyed it seems to me anyway. If they are so much better you have to wonder why everyone does not use them.

Spinning will still work in the winter....you could keep doing that.

Thanks Alan, yes it is. ...actually quite handy to have around as he clears up any bait I spill after I go so there is no trace that I am baiting the spot each day :)

Back to my prebaited swim on the river. I have been keeping the bait going in and trying to fish it whenever I can which usually means a snatched hour or two every few days. The back & forth is hard...

  17. Re: Winter fishing - tactics and info on what the actual Fish do in the worser weathe
