    Re: Any Daiwa 120M experts?

I agree with Mark. I made several way back, for match fishing on the Trent. They weren't useless but no advantage over a conventional stick float. Not worth the trouble to make or the expense to buy....

I am not familiar with this pole. I have done a google and there is very little info on it. It is a budget pole, as you will know by the price. That does not make it unusable, just be aware that you...

I know what you mean. I was 50 when I first used a PC. Fortunately it was a work requirement so I received some basic training. That gave me the confidence to piggle about and find my way around the...

Wrighty64. There are plenty of knowledgeable pole Anglers on the forum who could help you, if you could be more specific as to make and model. Pete

    Re: What is Traditional Angling?

Just googled the definition of "traditional" one of which is "long established". I have been fishing now for 70 odd years, doing basically the same thing with the tackle that was available at any...

    Re: Striking fish?

Sam Vines has this spot on. There is no single, cover all conditions, way to strike. The only thing you can say for sure is that when trotting on the River you need to strike away from the direction...

    Re: Hook packets

When I use to tie hooks in bulk they always came in boxes of 100. I would put them individually into paper packets. These came in packs of 1,000. I would then heat seal qty 10 tied hooks into a heavy...

I emperthise with all the comments so far. My philosophy is relatively simple. I go on the rivers when they are right, stillwaters when their are not. My prime objective is to fish for a bite. If I...

Following this thread through it is apparent the "stick float" that Mark describes (The same ones I used on the Trent many years ago) has now evolved and the term refers to any balsa bodied float...

Re: Weighing in my landing net?

I weigh fish in the landing net. It is easy and not too distressing. As Ray says a quick release coupling makes things quick and easy. It is a good idea, before going fishing, to wet the disconnected...

Re: New to fishing with kids

Both really. If the line is not knotted or kinked, it will be OK. Hooks that have only take a few fish will be useable. The true test for small hooks, like the 22s you use, is to be able to nick a...
