Re: A ‘reel’ companion for a travel rod

What ever you buy wash it after using it for saltwater fishing or it will corrode in no time. I made the mistake of using a big pit reel for a bit of sea fishing and never washed it. It’s still works...

    Re: Supporting local tackle shop

Over the years I have bought most of my new tackle from local shops. Most of my lures are second hand online buys. The last tackle I bought a complete dropshotting outfit came from my local shop at...

Started back in the 1950’s and fished every hour I could till the mid 1970's. Took a bit of a break when family life took over, then another bit of a break to concentrate on other hobbies music,...

    Re: Drennan 10/11ft bomb rod

I have 2 of the original 10ft and 11ft 6" used them for my small stream fishing and feeder fishing on commercial match lakes. Excellent rods and a lot strong then you expect the to be. Certainly...

    Re: Prebaiting advice please

Like as been said prebaiting doesn't mean big catches of fish.
We did a lot of heavy prebaiting back in the day and one thing we always did was to make sure we got to the swims first. We camped out...

    Re: Prebaiting advice please

First thing I would ask is prebaiting allowed worth checking because many don't allow it.
Then what fish to target, where to bait up, are the fish in the area you want to fish, have you walked the...

    Re: Clutch or backwind

I use both methods mainly because I started fishing at a time when reels were not that good. I remember the front drag on Mitchells would jam up and I went over to rear drag.
    Now all the reels I...
  10. Re: Why not have lure fishing at Farmoor reservoir?

Hanningfield went any method years ago because of drop in fly fishing numbers. When the close season changed a large number of trout waters reverted to coarse fishing. My nearest fly

Re: Are you still buying new tackle?

Found some on Snowbee website but it works not much cheaper than buying a new net. Looks like something else for the tip when it opens again.

Re: Are you still buying new tackle?

Where can you buy spare landing net mesh, I have a number of chewed nets that I want to renew. I can find plenty of 42" carp size net mesh on line but none for smaller 18" to 24" oval nets.
  13. Re: Where will you go and what Tackle will you use when........

Only fishing a year and already setting targets, don't do it, it will spoil your fishing.
    Biggest 11lbs, that's is a big fish.
  14. Re: Where will you go and what Tackle will you use when........

By the time we get back fishing it will be over a year since I last went. I have given up all my clubs so wherever I go and do it will feel like new to me. I think it will be dropshotting on the...

I use to have some good days on the Royal miltary canal in the Appledore, Hamstreet areas. Remember some good catches of roach on wheat.

    Re: Fishing spot enigma.

Always interesting how some of the best looking, must contain fish swims never produce a fish.
The fish obviously don't read the same books as us.
