    Weird Hardy Conquest 'Pin

    This is weird.

The reel pouch is of a colour I've never seen supplied with this reel, it has a black back plate and silver spool, the spool itself is of a design I've never seen before and it has...

    Re: Progold monofilament

    They're good, robust reels.

Nice drag for the money, decent baitrunner facility but yes, the line clip is awful.

Bloody sharp too, I simply won't use the clip. Someone did a reasonably cheap...

    Re: Flourocarbon Hook links.

A bit after the event I know but the two knots I use are the standard spade end knot (form a loop down the shank, six turns and back through the loop) or for eyed hooks a half blood knot, not tucked....
  6. Re: When does an Avon float become a Bolognese float?

This question has troubled me too.

I think the Bolo is simply the continental version of the Avon, developed to fish the deep, steady moving rivers typically found on the continent.

    Re: Float making.

Well done Mark, a fine job and well worth the effort.

What did you use to whip the bands, was it braid?

It looks a nice even job and I've used this on Pike floats, being that much more...

Just before this lockdown business began I was getting serious flutters of eyelashes from a bird at work and things were looking a cert.

    Re: Groundbait for perch

By way of adding particles casters are also a good one, Perch love 'em.

Many a tackle shop will happily let you have over turned casters by the bag full free of charge for the sake of asking, it...

    A very well balanced post.

On the point quoted it's still not scientifically or medically proven that having had the virus and building up antibodies will prevent someone from getting it a second...

  12. Re: Night Fishing is allowed: Angling Trust Update

Personally I think all of this, namely fishing when we can and taking precautions with hygiene and sanitisation, careful time and venue choice etc. is all going to come under the banner of the 'new...

I'm surprised chopped prawn hasn't been mentioned yet, especially mixed with chopped worm.

    Re: Your plans for Wednesday

I'm undergoing a phased return to work so if I'm having to go to there then I'm certainly going fishing but only where I feel there is no risk.

Friday is the day for me in the relative isolation...

    Re: Groundbait for perch

I reckon it's impractical on commercials, maybe a more selective bait is the better way to go such as a large prawn (still not bullet proof by any means) or a small deadbait such as a Roach.
