    I've cooked hemp from a local animal feed supplier on and off for years . Bought some from Monster Particles , prepared cost me a quid a kilo , looks good . Got 10 kilos for £16 delivered .

    Graham , I used to fish a local pond for tench using mussels as bait . They were around a £1 a bag from Tesco . The tench loved them . Nothing fancy just a size 8 hook and and a whole mussel as bait...

    Sounds like a decent set up , Most heavier rods and line are for casting to the horizon , as the other posters have said playing a fish using the rod and clutch is what it's all about .

    I'd say 12 lb is a little heavy myself for a quiver rod , unless your fishing a snag pit 8 lb would be a better balance . Your using a decent rod and will have a good drag on your reel so you should...

    Diawa make good reels , though they always seem to be a little larger than shimano so the 3500 would probably compare to a Shimano 4000 . Won't make a big difference but just something to bear in mind
