  1. Re: MP lands personal best carp and holds breath as the puns and gags from FM viewers

Indeed, John...especially in the House of Commons!
  2. Re: MP lands personal best carp and holds breath as the puns and gags from FM viewers

It's a start S63! I believe Black Rod was there too.
  3. Re: MP lands personal best carp and holds breath as the puns and gags from FM viewers

Perhaps it's Lennox Power Station, Philip! :)

No government / MP / Brexit / parliamentary puns and gags? Come on! Let's have a few!
  4. Re: MP lands personal best carp and holds breath as the puns and gags from FM viewers

    "...the heart of London" !!!:D
  5. Re: ‘Dick Walker – The Legend’ – A Compilation by Martin James MBE.

  7. Re: Angling Trust urges RSPCA to stop blaming anglers for plastic problems

Yes, Peter, it's not something I want to examine too closely but it must be said...if ever there was a reason for the RSPCA to be creating merry-hell - this is IT. In a saner era, the revelation -...
  8. Re: Angling Trust urges RSPCA to stop blaming anglers for plastic problems

Were it not for the enormity of this issue, Peter, I wouldn't have made the link.
  9. Re: Angling Trust urges RSPCA to stop blaming anglers for plastic problems

The RSPCA does excellent work but I cannot come to terms with their silence on the barbaric Islamic practice of conscious-animal slaughter. I hope readers have strong stomachs......

    Re: Thank you, Bernard!

I was unable to edit this post until later today. Apologies for earlier, unsatisfactory spacing.
  11. Re: EA Announces Public Consultation on the River Coarse Fishing Close Season

For donkeys years I've thought April 1st - May 31st inclusive: 2 whole months close season. We've all blanked in June / July / later? because the fish are otherwise engaged. A complete 2 month break...
  12. Re: It’s 2019: Let’s Have a Ban on Trebles.

Philip...I don't play 'silly beggers' [sic]
I would agree that I might actually be undermining the angler's cause with this topic but it was raised out of concern for fish-welfare: I think it worth...
  13. Re: It’s 2019: Let’s Have a Ban on Trebles.

I'm glad this conversation has broadened to include the question of 'barbed or barbless'. Anyone who has had the truly diabolical experience of trying to remove a 'deeply-seated' snap-tackle will...
  14. Re: It’s 2019: Let’s Have a Ban on Trebles.

The fish in the photograph is not the '22'.
  15. Re: It’s 2019: Let’s Have a Ban on Trebles.

Fishface: the '22' was caught on a flying'C' while salmon-spinning late March. We no longer spin for salmon on this stretch - fly only.
  16. Re: It’s 2019: Let’s Have a Ban on Trebles.

[QUOTE=peytr;1482603]Never trust the obvious. As far as I know there is no evidence that a ban on trebles would do any good to pike. Please let me know of any research which supports the idea, of...

Thanks for that, Keith, and thanks for the pic...it helps dispel the image I've always had of 'Keith M' as a lunatic drummer!
  20. Re: Fishing World Mourns the Passing of John Wilson MBE

It is difficult to imagine anyone else - anywhere - having the angling knowledge and skills of John Wilson...he always seemed to come up with the goods - with or without a camera crew present. I can...

    John Wilson

Fishing Magic sadly reports the death of John Wilson, possibly the UK's finest all-round angler. It is reliably thought that John suffered a stroke which led to a fatal heart attack. He was planning...

Thanks, Jack - nice one! If it's true it must've put that 'Leicester resident' off fishing for life! I look forward to more from you.
