Re: Shotting for a stick float

Get hold of a tall sweet jar or one of those clear plastic containers that come filled with zip ties or bungee cords. Great for shotting pole rigs or any floats for that matter.

The banana SAC stuff used to work for Severn barbel.

Given Preston’s reputation in the supply field, I’d expect that to be October 2020!

Re: Shotting for a stick float

I only really trot for grayling, which doesn’t require a great deal of sophistication and my bad eyeshite dictates that I use Drennan Loafers in 3.2 or 4.4g with Hi-Viz tips. I keep 6ft ready tied...

Mainline Activ-8 is doing the business for me lately on PVA mesh bags of 4mm pellets!

Korda Goo Tiger Nut Smoke is also a winner on top of Method feeder micros.

    Re: Fishing seat/chairs.

On the face of it the Korum Barrow Chair looks a good idea. I’d prefer 2 wheels on the front for better stability but that’s just me. I’d get one like a shot if I thought it would mean an improvement...

    Re: New Lure Fishing Book

I always like the idea of lure fishing but quickly tire of it if I’m not catching anything. Mind you, salmon fly fishing is just lure fishing with much smaller lures where you’re handicapped by the...

    Re: Fishing Allstars

Carp fishing mentality has influenced barbel angling for the worse both in techniques and tackle. IMHO the ideal tc for barbel rods is 1.5lbs but it’s crept up to 2 or 2.25lbs and, Tidal Trent...

    Re: Fishing Allstars

Christ knows why the two match anglers set up on pellet waggler, which is a notoriously slow-starting technique on waters that size? I’d have clipped-up and used the Method for quicker results. Four...

    Re: Here we go again!!!!

I use the Guru N-Gauge for hooklinks I tie myself but I tend to be lazy and buy ready-tied Preston ones in 15” & 4”. TBH I would use Maxima Chameleon for river hooklinks if I still fished for barbel....

No, for reel line, which is what benny samways was talking about, but it wouldn’t be bad for hooklinks.

    Re: Pre-tied hook links.

I used to tie flies for a tackle shop in Liverpool and I’m a reasonably quick tier and you definitely can’t make a living at it.

Fly fishing is the only true way of catching salmon.

Or are you using a lead bowling ball and a downrigger?

Saw a Wychwood Tactical X padded chair, with arms, that wasn’t really low for £64.99 at Taskers in Liverpool, weighed 5kg.
