    Re: another new one

Welcome to FM. It will be interesting to hear on HDYGO about the cats or indeed a separate thread on the subject.
Always good for a change of view.

Re: How did you get on?

I find small perch the best for sink and draw. They seem to have tougher flesh to resist casting. Also I use a large catfish hook through the top lips/head and one barbless treble on the flank. I...

Re: Water clarity vs success on canals

Perch are notorious for gulping down a bait and deep hooking. However I am sure others have notice how delicate and fickle perch can be in cold water/winter conditions.
It may be nothing to do with...

An afternoon on the light lure rod again. This time with soft mini lures. Had fun with two jacks before sundown and cold got to me.

    Re: Newark Needle Floats

I got a set from ATimes. To be honest I thought they were a con and useless. I thought someone had bought a job lot of reject pencils without any lead in them and thought of a way to offload them....

Re: How did you get on?

Another outing for my Light Lure Rod. Instead of lures today I rigged up a small dead roach and fished it sink and draw and settle and twitch style.
At first I had a jack pike then this 14lb+

  7. Re: Hook Sizes when fishing Fox soft lures...

Agree Dave. I had a rumage through my light lure bag a few days ago and realise the lures breed when you are not looking.

    Re: Fish Movement in Winter

There are 3 pools on a club complex I fish.
1> The carp cruise about all winter about 2 foot down like Robs even not feeding.
2 The carp sit in the deepest part under a sheer bank.
    3 The...

    Re: All this Rain

Agree its a downer again. It only has to spit with rain on already sodden ground and the rivers rise and the banks become skating rinks again. All my plans for this winters fishing have been thrown...

A Trent blank today on the non tidal. I looked at the levels website last night and it seemed OK. However it must have risen overnight and was a different proposition today. I had one barbel rod and...

Re: How did you get on?

Change of direction today. Light lure rod and some small lures on a club lake. Nothing big just two jacks about 3lb but they were great fun on this rod that feels like a wisp of air to hold.

    Funny...

Not fishing but fishing related. Went to the Pike Anglers last night for a talk by Neville Fickling on guess what.

Re: How did you get on?

I wasn't going to bother posting as it gets very samey. However on reflection to catch a number of carp on a bitterly cold day would have been unheard of in times past.

    Re: Changes

Steve, I used to haunt Raphels Park but it was gudgeon mostly. My first fish a roach came from the Chelmer. About 1960 I think.
I lived next to the Chase at Dagenham which was really scruffy and...

30th Dec. Last day out of the year. Not a huge success but it was sunny and dry for a change.
On a club pool with the remnants of the pinkies and some worm.
Lots of tiny perch and two small carp...

I tend to want answers to the above like you do.

Re: How did you get on?

With the rivers still out of sorts I am still going to my normal summer haunts to get a bite or two.
I went to a small lake to put my Christmas pressy though its paces again.
