Re: landing net for canal lure fishing

I use one of these nets as above. From memory its the larger size but the smaller one would be ideal for perch and jacks. This photo appeared earlier in HDYGO.

  3. Re: Winter fishing - tactics and info on what the actual Fish do in the worser weathe

I forgot to say. If you want to find roach on a normal level river or a stillwater take a walk at dusk. I promise you will see them topping.
Also on walks you will see fish scatter. Pike and perch...

  5. Re: Winter fishing - tactics and info on what the actual Fish do in the worser weathe

In reply to Steve. I fish for pike in winter. I also do all other sorts of fishing in winter. I do this because quite simply there is so much fishing to do and only one life to do it in. Its a very...
  6. Re: Winter fishing - tactics and info on what the actual Fish do in the worser weathe

I would say exactly as above as Peter fishes in Herts canals which get more challenging when the colour drops out in the winter.
You must settle for less. Sometimes a few bites from small fish will...

Re: The cost of your fishing.

I find that the internet is the most expensive item causing excess cost of fishing for me. It makes it far too easy to find items of tackle that I just cannot live without.

Re: How did you get on?

A day on my local which involved a wade along a normally dry bank. I was not hopeful as the run off was causing the water to turn into Horlicks.

However a piece of Lamprey produced this one at...

I know that spot well. A few years ago I saw a long boat well and truly stuck firm widthways across the canal nearby where someone had tried to turn in a place that was not a turning bay. Some dopes...

  16. Re: When to strike when float fishing for Pike.

    The cutters...
  17. Re: When to strike when float fishing for Pike.

Thats a good point about trebles half way along Steve. I have started using a variation on that which seems OK. I put a treble on the flank with a large single through the tail. The single stops...
