Re: How did you get on?

You're very welcome Mike. It has been gathering dust for over a year. Much better that you can make use of it. Thanks again for company it was much appreciated. Shame about the fishing! At least...

Re: Shotting for a stick float

    I have these Mike:
    7529

Most of which there are two of so unless we go decorating the trees with them we should be OK - assuming they're suitable.

Good luck with the B&B it looks nice.
  4. Re: On Artificial strong Smells, Sweeteners & Flavours etc...

No idea but tastes and smells are basically chemical reactions which are affected by temperature. Beer has to be the right temperature. Too cold and it has little to no taste, too hot and well......

    Re: Minor tackle

I just use an ordinary pair of household scissors. Stainless, dead cheap and work fine although the last pair I had weren't very stainless. Not great for braid of course. One thing I use all the time...

Re: How did you get on?

Back to the Bridgwater again a mile or two east of Lymm. Same spot with the offending tree but set up the 10'6" Toreon which I should have done last time. The spot with the offending overhanging...

Re: How did you get on?

Back on the Dam again yesterday. Arrived somewhat late, around 7:15am after a bit of a restless night. 7'10" and no tow to speak of. 13' and 2.75g Antenna to 16s light hook and set the 10'6" - 3bb -...

    Re: New or second hand

Prefer new myself. Not because it's the latest greatest but there's always a risk with SH stuff. Rods are tricky unless you've had first hand experience. Buying new you get the opportunity to try and...

Re: How did you get on?

Great day thanks Mike. Enjoyed it as usual. 'One' had three more on after you'd gone plus some mini Mirrors and a few Roach but only managed to land one of the Carp, a 7lb Common with attitude. I...

Re: Hi guy. Absolute novice here.

Hi and welcome to Fishing Magic. Hope it all goes well. There's a thread in General Fishing, "How did you get on?". Let us know and ask away if there's anything you're not sure about.

Re: How did you get on?

Fished the Bridgewater yesterday arriving just as daylight broke. Fishing opposite a wooded area meant I'd be in the shade for at least some of the day. Some overhanging bushes to left and right on...

Re: How did you get on?

Another trip to the Dam yesterday. I don't usually fish it twice in a week but I had a target in mind. Some time ago on HDYGO I mentioned a decent hybrid I caught. The bailiff was nearby at the time...

    Re: Bread, types, usage?

That's where I first saw the method and I've done it that way ever since, or nearly. I cut the bread into about 10mm strips and just tear off what I want and fold it etc. Works well although the last...

Re: How did you get on?

Had a few trips since last post. Nothing too remarkable unless having your landing net ripped by Pike counts. It's getting smarter. The thing was must have been under the peg right from the word go....

Ray's just reminded me. The biggest fish I've ever landed, a Mirror was hooked into the tail rubber of a snapped off Carp rig. 12:13 IIRC.

Re: How did you get on?

New club water for me yesterday. It's a club water but it's more like a well kept commercial than the club waters I've been to before. The verges look better than my lawn, not that that's saying...

    Re: Line strength and diameter

It's the cross sectional area that determines the BS. If you work backwards from the .22@6lb you get ~7.7lb for the 0.25 - near enough for rock and roll. That approach probably doesn't work with...

Really hard day on the Dam yesterday. Two rods, 13' at ~12M and 10'6" for margins or up in the water at 12M both with 3.3lb fluoro to 16s light hook. Started fishing around 6am on the bottom and got...

I always measure and test line. I just like to know what I'm using. It's probably more important if you're using main and hooklength from different manufacturers as they all seem to have their own...

Re: How did you get on?

I'd more or less written off Friday for fishing on account of the threatened thunderstorms but I'd prepared bait just in case. Pai**ting, dec****ing some float making done and thunderstorms no longer...
