On a stillwater, any feature in the margins that helps me keep the feeding accurate, ideally some pads but usually a reflection.

    Re: Dace

Dace are very plentiful on my local stretch. They're also very prominent up the smaller tributaries.

Has anyone else got a tape measure out and tried to imagine a perch like this, or is it just me?

Re: How did you get on?

Well my last river session of the season wasn't as productive as yours whitty, but it was a nice day and the birds were singing. A woodpecker somewhere behind me provided some percussion.

    The...

What kind of water is it? My local river is full of new snags so that might be an issue for you.

    Re: Your earliest fishing memory

When i was about 6 or 7 we used to take our crab lines down the Chelmer, which was only at the bottom of our road. My memory is that we were unsupervised, anyway we targeted crayfish at the outlet of...

Re: Using tackle how you like.

Ledgering a lobworm in a fast stream by putting it on a size 4, 3g jighead. cast into flow and it rolls round until it sticks to the bottom. Chub and perch mainly but i have had the occasional dace...

  20. Re: Hook Sizes when fishing Fox soft lures...

Been there, you soon pick it up.

Your next worries will be about the weight of the jighead, weedless options, when you need a wire trace, where to hide all the bits you keep buying from AGM so the...

I'd probably use a 6 on something that size, you don't want the hook emerging too far back or the tail 'wag' will be affected. Which is more to do with shank length than hook size per se, and that...
  22. Re: Who could catch a fish without tackle on a desert island?

  25. Re: Who could catch a fish without tackle on a desert island?
