    Re: Fishing spot enigma.

I used to get the train to Hamstreet, bit of a walk but nice fishing, good tench and some very big rudd, well big to my eyes. Shallow and small lily type weed right across with just a small gap in...

    Re: Fishing spot enigma.

It is a part of what was once the royal military canal built in 1815. It was built more for defense than boat traffic so it does look a bit like a drain, I am not sure the definition of canal but I...

    Re: Fishing spot enigma.

Phillip-It is a strange one, the feeder dyke area is mainly a bird reserve, no crops so i imagine not much spraying whereas the area on the main canal not in the pic (further down) has wheat crops on...

    Re: Auto-Renewing April 1st Licences

Did not get mine until June 29th last year so a bit lucky on that score. I doubt we will still be not fishing by then this year but if we are, I will wait till we are before renewing. The pro-rata 12...

Tried a test coat of white gloss on a couple of the other floats, probably looking like the favorite option. Noticed two smears of paint on my window pane, b***** knows how they got there but, press...

Well thank you both, I often wondered, it lived in my neighbors back yard for about two years, I just put it inside their back door in the winter when I used to look after their garden. Then when I...

I waited about 5 years for this to flower, some sort of semi tropical plant, never knew what it was but it was worth the wait.

And here a few I just saved from members just because I liked them so much. I hope they don't mind but I thought they might come in handy one day for something and this thread seems a handy time.

Re: Lockdown effect on fishing ?

I just caught this in a news item yesterday, one landlord was trying to evict a NHS nurse because they did not want her bringing the C19 virus home from work. Its becoming a stranger world by the...

I started to paint these floats, the yellow; and I was not too happy. I think they need to be as they were or made new. The trouble is the yellow paint is too thick and I would have to put on lots of...

Re: Lockdown effect on fishing ?

A virus can live two hours outside the body at least, in a 20mph wind it can travel 40 miles in that time. You think you can't catch it just because your in an out of the way fishing spot!

I have given them a rub down with rough and then fine sand paper, then a wash in soapy water. Now the hard bit painting them, should be embarrassing but that can wait until tomorrow or the weekend.

I think it is best not to go fishing for a while until this virus passes and the Government give the all clear.; that's only my judgement but the minister kept saying only go out if it is essential.

My two most well used floats, well worn, past their sell by date but still loved. Great pictures by the way on this thread.
