Re: Shotting for a stick float

If you can find a copy Mike, then Billy Lane's "Encyclopaedia of float Fishing" is an excellent tome and covers most every type of float you are likely to ever need to use.

    It might be from the...

Re: Shotting for a stick float

Rough guide as shot does vary between manufacturers

4g will need either 2 x no4's or one BB

    5g takes 2 x no4's plus 2 x no 10's

    6g takes 2 no 1's

This table might help: Shot conversion...

    Re: Minor tackle

The best I found for braid and mono are Owner brand.

Not the cheapest but good quality and they keep their edge. I have two pairs, one in my fly bag the other in a tackle box.

Re: Gaymire: Are the Monsters Still There?

I’m sorry Cliff but I really think it is out of order to make disparaging comments about a person who is not normally on FM. Hence the reason for my earlier question.

    On the other subject, what...
  6. Re: New UK Fisheries Bill falls .. but the fight goes on

This Bill, together with many others, will all "fall" when Parliament is prorogued . . . . thereby wasting all the effort and hours of deliberation; all the committee work and individual sacrifices...

Just out of interest, and fairness, when did Paul Selman last contribute here on FM?

Re: How did you get on?

Well, despite the very windy conditions I has a first class day today.
I am sworn to secrecy as to the location but can say it was on the upper Test,
on a fishery that is rather expensive although...
  10. Re: Groundbait Recipes for Method Feeder??

Typically I prefer to use plain 2mm dampened pellets in my method feeder. If extra stickiness it needed, for fishing on deeper waters, then I only ever add in some Sensas 3000 Method Mix; it is...

Re: Best all rounder 8lb mono ?

For Carp on a commercial pool the I opt for Shimano Technium in 8lb breaking strain. . . . . it has low stretch of just 12%, great knot strength and it is a triple core line so is still supple but...

Re: Waters you won't be going back to

There are a few venues that I went to once and would never, ever, go back to.

The one that really sticks in my memory being Broadlands Lake . . . . this place is situated "close to a junction 2...

    Re: New or second hand

There are undoubtedly some great bargains to be had when buying second hand, but having witnessed the way some anglers treat their rods, reels etc., I'd want to undertake a full inspection before...

    Re: Fishing Allstars

When I fshed Redmire I made a point of being awake at 4:45 for two mornings and just sat there, quietly, imagining the 10 minutes battle on Walker's 12lbs plaited line with a size 2's model perfect...

Using the same criteria then Dick Walker's record Carp, Raviolli, shouldn't count either as it was not netted by Walker but by Pete Thomas?

Not forgetting either that Thomas also had to assist...
  16. Re: Greys prodigy barbel rod, quiver tips.

Re: stamping on a bait boat

Re: Who's been a naughty boy then

The maximum tariff for not having a valid licence is, I believe, £5,000 so one can equally make a...
