Re: How did you get on?

In my experience its waggling a rubber fish on a hook that is ignored completely by real fish.

Re: How did you get on?

The desire to get out after finishing my night shifts proved too much. I only had a couple of hours, despite stating that I was giving up my attempts at drop shotting, I foolishly chose to have...

I've never fished Greenbank before, heard there's been some nice sized perch come out.

Re: How did you get on?

Yes, but it's changed since I fished it as a kid. Now full of chubby carp, the lads lining the banks in their bivvies know their names.

Today was my only chance to go fishing this week, decided to make a start on my project of catching from every park lake in Liverpool. After dropping my big lad off at school, I headed for Greenbank...

I thought it looked like a chub but I'm fairly certain nobody would have transferred chub to our little pond.

I think it is a grass carp? I'm no carp expert and was wondering what any of you more knowledgeable guys think. Cheers.
  11. Re: What was your first fish and where did you catch It ?

My first fish was a perch caught on a big hook tied to black cotton, a big old worm as bait and a matchstick float. It was 1976 in the summer holidays with my uncle and cousin at The Seven Sisters in...

Re: How did you get on?

It's not just the blanks, I've had plenty of them with bait! I just don't find it an enjoyable form of fishing. I like the roving with minimal tackle approach, but can do that with a tub of worms or...

Sally Hansens Hard As Nails is my choice.
It's a clear nail varnish, costs about 4 quid, is better than any other varnish I have tried.
Sounds strange, but give it a go mate.

Decided to try and make a couple of floats out of natural material, these are designed for delicate roach bites on a local pond, made from reed stems.
