    Re: Ray Nimmo Floats

Didn’t Ray sell his machinery lock stock & barrel to mark bird in 1989? Ie. Image floats.

Or have I conflated two things in my memory?

    Hi Tigger,
agree with all of that apart from your preference for small bolo for close range work.

I know Tigger, formerly of this parish, would advocate a float of the proportions of those Woody’s bolo floats for fishing small, shallow rivers .... but i’d Certainly not call that “stick float...

can of worms truly opened ...

anglers and manufacturers use the terms with a bit of abandon, and there is some cross-over.

    Re: Rod tip breakage

Just to say - if a float rod is incapable of swinging a 5oz roach without risk of breakage then it is simply not fit for my purposes.
Even my canal rod can easily handle that - and it is soft enough...

as one of the few active (natural water) match fisherman on this forum - I use whips a lot.

  11. Re: Returned to fishing? What changes have you noticed?

as several have already said on here - the 20-30 year old techniques will still catch plenty of fish. Perhaps unusual on this forum - I fish open matches (on rivers, drains and canals) and still use...

    Alan,

haven't you got any of Birdy's balsa wagglers left? I've still got a draw full of seconds from the factory (not as good as his handmades but still pretty good).
