what are the range masters like when playing fish close in i thought they were more of a long distance rod.
i'll see if i can find some extremes to play with in a shop.

but surely a 13' 3lb is a casting tool?

What do you want it for Jason and why?

My experience of Ballistas is that they are at least 1/2lb under on their TC's.
So a 3lb Ballista would be a better playing rod, really being a 2 1/2, but not much cop for mega casting.
A more tip actioned, proper 3lb rod, would be less good at playing fish under the tip, but would be a better distance casting rod.

extracting carp and pike from britains larger rivers usually.
or carping on still waters at long range round 70 to 120 yards max.
so you think i should go for a 3.5 if i get a ballista.

no, I'd go for something else.

Having seen Ballistas and Slims, I would say that there are much, much better distance rods on the market.

TFG 12'6" 3.25lb are a much better buy at ?99.99.
