Give them a try. I've caught loads of tench and carp on Mistral soft pellets and VDEynde dry pellets banded to the hook.
Some float so all you can normally use them for is hook baits, but otherwise you could always add them to groundbait if you don't like them on the hook. What have you got to lose?

Have used various strawberry pellets with succses, Tried expanders with strawberry flavouring as well again quite good results.
