Hi guys,

My old 13' Daiwa Vulcan waggler rod needs some attention. I've tried 3 tackle shops and they don't have the rings I require, I think they are fuji 2 legs.

Is there a site on-line where I can purchase them or something similar?

Thanks.
Steve.

Hahaha nice to see you posting again mate ;)

The guy at Veals told me to buy a rod with the rings on it that I needed and use them. He told me it would be about the same cost either way, if I could source them.

I'll have a google, thanks.

Dunno Paul :wh even if I did know I wouldn't say.

I found Hopkins and Holloway but I can't open the link

The link works now, but I can't see any rings that look like the ones on my rod.
I've emailed Daiwa for help, fingers crossed.

Steve........try Bob the rod at Fosters in Brum, he has loads of old rings he has collected over the years.

If you are really attached to the rod he rebuilds them great.......save a few quid by "readying" it yourself and get Bob to rebuild it for you, supply the rings you have and he may be able to match up the missing one or two.

It is one of life's little mysteries...

He is known to some......and even more so to the likes of Mr Marsden and Mr Bibby.........so he just has to be dodgy!!:wh

It's like that bloke called Pikey Paul, I'd never blow his cover.....

Brummie, thanks mate. When you say 'rebuild' could he change the cork handle to a screw-fit reel seat? Fingers crossed I can get the rings.

he could do that no prob Steve.....though it would meean stripping the butt section rings off.

Some rods are special and if the blank is sound its well worth it.

It really is a special rod to me. I had a 24lb carp on it last year with Mike Townsend, whilst roach fishing on the wag'. I had my lake pb 1.13 roach on it in the same session. Chub, bream, perch, tench, barbel, grayling, loads of memories with this rod.

It is a fantastic blank, so I want to keep it.

And I bought it from me mums club book when I was 17 years old, 27 years ago!

What's a Fuji 2 leg ? My local shop has a selection of rings nearly as old as me.I'm often rummaging around in there and rarely dont find what I want.

They also have every known example of Alvey Sidecaster outside captivity & a "Pateke Morton" rod on display. They dust the rods weekly... Its that sort of place !

Not really Steve.....I take it you mean not single legs and not the original 3 legged fuji's ? I can have a look if you like ?

Come to think of it...it wouldn't surprise me if he had a Daiwa Vulcan tucked away somewhere.

Daiwa got back to me but can't help :(

The rod is obviously discontinued and so are the dynaflo rings.

I just may have the rings you want.

Early Diawas had Fuji rings that the legs go up to the top of the ring and then loop over and go down to the ring, so the rod will actually stand on a table on its rings and not fall over.

Is that the rings you mean?

I bought a cane rod with them on and stripped them off.....

Here they are before removal......

I have a slightly later Daiwa rod with more normal rings on too, it is unused. It's called a Cavalier and has black high bells stand off rings, unlined. Only the tip and butt ringa are lined.

Thes black high bells are now unobtainable as H&H sent thier stock off to be brightchromed when the new owner took over:eek: I do have some and I know of a source if they are what you after ????

Ah...dynaflo rings...I know them.I have a much beloved Daiwa GF53 "Black Shadow" with dynaflo rings. I reckon that would be about the same vintage.

If its those rings then I think you will struggle to find them other than on an old rod and then you have a quality/wear issue though I always thought that they were particularly good and easily on a par with the Fuji's of that time...if not better. Those in the picture are what I meant by "3 legged".

Is it that important to replace the rings exactly ? The rods a user so a decent quality "near enough" would do surely ?
