I'm in total agreement with you on this one Kevin. I'm not a carp angler I admit but I fail to see why anyone would be persuaded to buy a rod because it casts 150yds whereas the opposition only casts 145yds, madness.

Surely it depends on the angler how far a rod can cast anyway and not the rod. To test properly you would need a machine to maintain the same effort for every cast and what value could you attach to the results for heavens sake.

Ah but you have lost the point.

The people who buy these rods want to pose. They are not interested in catching fish at all. As long as the rod is of the latest fashion and complements their "street cred." they will buy it.

It's the same thing with cars. The owner maybe the lousiest driver that ever lived, but if he has control of the latest hidiously designed stink machine, on- lookers will think he is wonderful.
