Hello all
While we were looking at some old photo prints of Whitby (Frank Sutcliffe Gallery if you know it), my dad mentioned that the pond shown in one pic behind the Abbey was known as a great Tench water, this was back in the early 50's. It stuck in his mind because it was so deep and he always blanked, could anyone tell me if it still exists and are the Tench any easier??. This could be a good one for the Monk ho ho.

I've often seen the pond when visiting the Abbey, and I've wondered if it was any good for fishing. The last time I was in Whitby a few years ago the pond was still there. I've never seen anyone fishing it. If it's part of the abbey site it might belong to the National Trust.

its definately still there

i lived in whitby for four years never heard of any tench in there though

i also studied franks work during my a levels

memories are flooding back

it'd be a cool pond to take a few tench from though but most people around there are more into the macks and kippers
