Just started back, after 20 years away from the sport. Can any body give me some advise on a 12ft rod for roving the river it must to be able to trot a stick float, throw a small feeder and free line a lobby or slug down a run, Looked at the Drenan, but found it a bit through action for me. Plus I dont need a extra quiver tip. Chub are my main target.

he'll not want a wilson if he don't like the drennan.
neil after 20 year away i think you might want to take other peoples advice and get a quiver for free lining, things have moved on quite a lot in those years.
the 1 oz tip in the wilson is perfect for the job.
the drennan rod you spoke of is also absolutely perfect for it.
