Chav,

Is there any possibility of using some Drive Doctor software to try and recover files? Or does the drive not even register on the bios?

yes, thank you, i am not the only one. my drive packed up the other day, i lost almost every thing only just getting it sorted now, replaced it with a 120gb instead of the 40, luckly i got 2 drives and only the main one went down so i didnt lose all my photos and music.

you wouldn't lose your photos if you put em on a cd.before the drive crashed.

now alan repeat after me, the first thing alan must do before faffing about on fm next is back up all his precious photos on to suitable not volatile storage media.

now go and write that out 50 times.

fitted my new 80gig hd and i've been doing
the re-installation for the last two days
trying to remember just what software i had on my old drive ,i know i'm bound to have forgotten something!.i'l probably have a go at retrieving the data later when
i can find the time but i'm not hopefull.it
just means i've probably lost a load of it
and will have to trawl the internet for any
replacement pictures and info (fishing related).
