Beginner to carping

Apart from fishing for carp with a pole (biggest 12lb to date) i havent fished for them using alarms. I would like to know the best gear for a small budget. I have rod/ reel and necescary safety items. I need to know where to start on alarms, bait and rigs etc.. also any good waters in the long eaton nottingham area woould be appreciated.
