Carp Care

Hello all,

Ive just started catching carp and would like some tips on carp care. Some of the fish I have caught are really lively and are difficult to control for weighing/photography on the mat which has resulted in me putting fish back quickly without weighing.

can anyone advise me on how to go about handling the carp and how i can calm the fish down ? Im also after a decent padded un-hooking mat can you recommend one?

Thanks

what sort of size are they?

laying a wet sack/sling over their eyes can help.

The Quantum and Nash beanies are pretty good

like a lot of things, dont be scared of them. hold them close to you and dont be afraid of getting slimey! any doubts thoug, its better to put them back than risk dropping them. always carry them back to the water in the mat so theres no risk of dropping them

It might be easier getting a mat/weighsling combo. Saves messing about transferring the fish from one to the other.
